Samsung i600 Blackjack

Okay so everyone who knows me even a little bit knows what a gadget geek I am!  But when it was time to upgrade my new phone I decided that it is time to once and for all spend a little bit of extra cash and get a decent phone that will help me integrate my life and work a bit more.

My options were between the following phones:  Nokia N70 with GPS (But it’s a slow phone and doesn’t have a full qwerty keyboard, therefore I didn’t find it a good phone); Nokia N73 (It’s a faster version of the N70, but more expensive and still no full keyboard – GPS wasn’t included!); Nokia E50 with GPS (Looked like a nice phone and I only had to pay in R300 bucks on a Weekender Contract, but this phone didn’t even have 3G and compared with my Samsung Z540 it would be downgrading!); then obviously the N95 {What a dream phone!  But tooooooooo….. expensive unfortunately :’-( } But I have also had my eye on the Samsung i600 for a few months now and wondered when it would be available in South Africa [to make a short story long (sic) :-P this was the phone (with a full keyboard, wi-fi and HSDPA) that I took]. Has God left the church?

In a comment left on one of my posts, Where the truth lies, Johannes_11 reacts that God isn’t in the Church anymore, and that satan is the head of the Church.

  • That God now calls individuals, instead of congregations to have His work done.
  • That God has called His children to leave the church.
  • That God has called Family Radio (some obscure station on AM) to take these children that God has sent away from the church, and together they’ll be the mediator for people’s salvation.
  • That God doesn’t use the local church anymore to be witnesses of His Word.

It saddens me to see that such heresy is spread throughout the world.  And especially at this time where we celebrate the Holy Spirit’s work in the church that someone (or some institution) with a messiah complex would try to take the glory of God for his/her/itself.

I really get furious, when someone denies the work of the Holy Spirit (as is done on Family Radio’s website under “Who or what is Family Radio”, but what I even hate more is the publicity that they will get from pulling stunts like this!

Words like what is said in the comment on Where the truth lies goes against the grain of what Christ said about the Kingdom of God, it denies Christ as head of the Church, it denies the work of the Holy Spirit in believers and the fact that believers are placed together for a reason (Acts 1:8 and in the next chapter we see how, when the Holy Spirit comes unto the disciples they where immediately equipped to go out and spread the Gospel).

In my own life I have sometimes got fed up with the Church, with congregants, with fellow sinners, but I have come to realise that if I am on my own I would die, physicly and spiritually.  That I find God in being together with other people (mostly Christians) that God speaks to me through His other children, but luckely God also blesses us with a spirit of desernment and that we can be sure when it is His voice speaking (is is going with or against His Word?).

I’m not telling people to join the nearest building with the most people and the best publicity, but I trust in God to put people together (like Paul tells us in 1 Cor 12-14), that God Himself is the head of that Church (whatever the denomination or size may be) and that God chose to use us His church (not a building), His body, to be messengers, not advocates (God is – said with respect – a big Guy and can look after Himself, thank you very much!).  And that God uses us (the believers) as nurturers in the lives of new believers or the weak.

If Johannes_11’s comment was some kind of publicity stunt and actually isn’t then I am truly sorry for helping him make a Paris Hilton out of himself.  I’m finding it very hard to bless people whom I feel has wronged me in some kind of way, but if it was as it seems, then I wasn’t wronged but the Kingdom of God itself.  Therefore I truly hope that God will open these people’s eyes and that they will turn to Him and start spreading the Gospel of Christ and not that of Family Radio.
